The Leigh Districts Landcare Group is centred around the Leigh River and includes Shelford, Inverleigh, Teesdale, Bannockburn, and Wingeel.
Founded in 1989 to combat the increasing problem of Serrated Tussock spreading throughout district, it was associated with the development of the Victorian Government Serrated Tussock Working Party which was formed to assist the government with establishing noxious weed controls in the state.
Although it is still recognised as the most significant weed facing the district, the group has now taken on a broader role in supporting landholders and the community to overcome land and environmental degradation issues across the area.
